Feeding Guidelines
The daily amount of food that dogs required is influenced by their environment, their activity, size, and breed. The amount fed should be adjusted according to the dog’s appetite and condition. Pregnant, nursing, extremely active, or hard-working dogs may require and consume 1 ½ to 3 times the amount of food indicated for their weight on the cart. Once per day feeding is adequate for dogs over six months of age.
Puppies may require up to two times as much food (adult chart) for growth and development during the first 1-2 years of age. Feed puppies all that they will eat in a 30 minute period, 3-4 times per day, for the first six months. The next six months, feed a minimum of twice per day, adjusting the feeding rate to maintain a lean muscular body condition.
Provide plenty of fresh, clean water in a clean container at all times.
Remember to thoroughly wash your hands after handling your dog’s food or feeding utensils.
