The chart below shows the cups of Black Gold Explorer Grain Free Game Bird Formula with Turkey and Quail Dog Food that is required daily to maintain condition and to support a normal level of activity in adult dogs of varying sizes.
|Your Dog’s Current Weight (LB.)||Standard 8oz. Cups to Feed Per Day*|
|5-10||2/3 – 1|
|10-15||1 – 1⅓|
|15-25||1⅓ – 2|
|25-40||2 – 2¾|
|40-60||2¾ – 3¾|
|60-80**||3¾ – 4⅔**|
*Amounts are based on a standard measuring cup.
**For larger dogs, feed an additional 1/2 cup per day for each 10 lbs. of additional body weight over 80 lbs.
The daily amount of food that dogs required is influenced by their environment, their activity, size, and breed. The amount fed should be adjusted according to the dog’s appetite and condition. Pregnant, nursing, extremely active, or hard-working dogs may require and consume 1 ½ to 3 times the amount of food indicated for their weight on the cart. Once per day feeding is adequate for dogs over six months of age.
Puppies may require up to two times as much food (adult chart) for growth and development during the first 1-2 years of age. Feed puppies all that they will eat in a 30 minute period, 3-4 times per day, for the first six months. The next six months, feed a minimum of twice per day, adjusting the feeding rate to maintain a lean muscular body condition.
